Alaina Salerno
College Planning Specialist
With 15 years as a College Planning Specialist, I've dedicated my career to helping families navigate the often complex world of college admissions and financial aid. From client intake to processing financial aid paperwork, writing appeals, and assisting with Parent Plus Loans, I've worn many hats to ease the stress for parents and students alike. There's a unique satisfaction in helping families secure financial aid they didn't know was possible, and it brings me immense joy to be a part of their college journey.
This industry is predominantly male, and my journey began when I was 30, working for Underwriter's Marketing Service. The owner, a successful and enthusiastic woman, was passionate about increasing female representation in the financial field. Her mentorship was instrumental in shaping my career and inspiring me to help others.
Growing up in Cherry Hill, NJ, I experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating college admissions and financial aid without guidance. My diverse and supportive hometown, along with a fantastic school district, set the foundation for my career. Reflecting on my own experience, I recognize the value of having a guide through the college process, and I'm committed to being that resource for others.
I live with my 17-year-old son, Cole, who is about to embark on his own college journey as a senior at Saint Anthony's High School. With my experience in the field, I hope our path will be smooth. Outside of work, I have a passion for music, live concerts, dancing, and exploring new restaurants with friends. My happy place is the beach in the summer, and nothing makes me smile more than watching Cole play soccer, with hopes of seeing him continue at the college level.
